About the Project
Taxiway A is the full length parallel taxiway to the west of Runway 16R/34L. Like the runway, Taxiway A was last rehabilitated in 1999 is in need of major pavement and electrical infrastructure rehabilitation. The pavement rehabilitation is anticipated to be a mill and overlay of the existing asphalt surface. Electrical improvements include removal of existing incandescent taxiway edge lighting and airfield guidance signage, and replacement with new LED edge lighting and signage.
The runway rehabilitation construction will address the connector taxiways between the runway and parallel taxiway and is scheduled to begin in October 2020. The taxiway rehabilitation construction will address the mainline portion of the parallel taxiway and is anticipated to begin in spring/early summer 2022. Once complete in 2022, the majority of the infrastructure on the west side of the airfield will be fully rehabilitated, beginning with the West Apron in 2018, Runway 16R/34L in 2020, and parallel Taxiway A in 2022.
Design for the project is programmed to begin in 2020, while construction is programmed to begin in 2022. In the event that supplemental or end of year funding is available through FAA, the design will be completed so that bidding may occur in Summer 2021. The following is an estimated timeline from design through the start of construction:
