West Apron Rehabilitation – Phase 1

About the Project

The West Apron pavement of Manassas Regional Airport has reached the end of its useful life and is beginning to deteriorate. The City of Manassas has decided to proceed with the design of Phase I of the West Apron Rehabilitation project, which includes the rehabilitation of pavement, restriping, and reconfiguration of tie-downs on the west side of the airport. The project will remove two access points to the apron from Taxiway A to meet new FAA geometric and safety standards. Construction for this project is anticipated in Fall 2017.

UPDATE 06/21/2018: Manassas West Apron Rehabilitation Phase 1 project is substantially complete!

UPDATE 05/15/2018: Fuel-resistant seal coat is being installed at tiedown parking positions. Permanent striping, including tiedown T-markings and numberings, will be installed in mid to late June.

UPDATE 01/12/2018: All paving is complete, and temporary markings have been placed. Tiedown anchors are being installed. Dulles Aviation and West Side Aviation remain open during remaining construction activities.

UPDATE 10/19/2017: Construction began on September 27, 2017, and work has begun in the Dulles Aviation leasehold and on the Taxiway connector between A1 and A2. Dulles Aviation remains open during all phases of work.

UPDATE 9/21/2017: The Notice to Proceed has been issued to the contractor. Construction is anticipated to begin on September 25, 2017, and will begin with work in the Dulles Aviation leasehold. Dulles Aviation and Westside Aviation will remain open throughout the duration of the project.

UPDATE 7/19/2017: The advertisement for this project has closed, with bids being opened on 6/19/2017.
